MOTHER NIGHT
Visual Metaphor
This book cover redesign project introduces a compelling visual metaphor for Kurt Vonnegut’s classic novel, Mother Night. The editorial design centers around an original piece of conceptual photography featuring a stringed wooden marionette walking blindly into the darkness, capturing the book’s core themes of manipulation, dual identities, and political control.
The low-key, high-contrast black photography creates a moody, minimalist backdrop that emphasizes the isolation of the figure. Stripping away unnecessary elements allows the subtle strings to speak volumes about the illusion of free will. This stark imagery is balanced by elegant, golden cursive typography for the book title, adding a sophisticated yet haunting touch to the layout.
FUTURISM
Intervened Portrait
This project is a creative intervened self-portrait where I blended my own portrait photography with a bold, futurist digital illustration. My goal was to explore the mix between real human identity and abstract, geometric shapes.
In the image, I split my face using a stylized, colorful mask with smooth digital gradients. Exploding from behind me is a bright, busy backdrop filled with classic Futurism elements like industrial pipes, a train, and city buildings in deep blues, yellows, and greens. The contrast between my real photo and the flat, textured digital layers gives the artwork a lot of energy and movement.
EDITORIAL
Product Photography
This project started as a team challenge to shoot and style the Zara W/End fragrance. We captured the product in a single photoshoot, and then everyone in the group created their own layout to see how many different looks we could get from the same image.
For the setup, we kept the lighting clean to focus on the glass bottle. We added real cinnamon sticks and cardamom seeds around it to visually show the actual ingredients of the perfume.
My layout blends the bottle with a bold, oversized Zara logo. A clean sidebar lists the fragrance notes, mixing straightforward product photography with graphic design. This project was a great way for our group to experiment with different editing styles and visual ideas.
